I was recently awarded the American Swedish Institute's 2021 Teaching Tools grant for beginning craft instructors focused on Scandinavian traditions. I know what you're thinking: there must have been thousands of applicants! How did you win?!
Well, I did.

I ordered a spinning wheel, some drop spindles, spinning wheel oil, and hand carders, all necessary for taking raw wool through the whole process and coming out with nice, lovely yarn.
Part of receiving this grant is that I will be teaching two half-day classes at ASI introducing spinning concepts and methods to beginnners. I'm hoping to involve kids, perhaps teaching one class only for children. I'm looking forward to putting special emphasis on Scandinavian fiber traditions (which I still have to learn more about!)
